Every year, Omaha Beach dresses up in its finest to pay tribute to history... and to celebrate life. And what if we told you that the best way to do it is with your feet in the sand, a sandwich in your hand, listening to jazz in the setting sun?
On 6 June, head to the seaside for a moment of suspended animation
To mark the commemoration of D-Day, Omaha Beach is the setting for a ritual: a giant picnic with live music. Away from the hustle and bustle, families and friends gather here to share a simple yet powerful moment, facing the immensity of the land.
On the programme:
- A sea gilded by the evening sun,
- Tablecloths flying in the wind,
- And above all, musical notes dancing in the air...
We advise you to get there early to find a good seat (and a bit of shade if the sun is beating down!). The concert starts at 7.30pm, but the magic happens long before that.
A word of advice from Omaha Home:
Take along a blanket, some snacks and your favourite drink. The atmosphere is relaxed and good-natured, and the children can run around in the sand while the parents savour the moment. And if you're already in one of our homes, you're just a stone's throw away from happiness!
